Maroon 5 is an american pop rock band from Los  Angeles. That band is currently counting 6 members  : Adam Levine who is the singer, Jesse Carmichael the keyboardist, Mickey Madden the bassist, James Valentine , Matt Flynn the guitarist and PJ Morton. 

In 1994, four friends (Adam Levine, Ryan Dusick, Jesse Carmichael,  Mickey Madden) decided to make a music band and they called it "Kara's Flowers". They signed with Reprise Records when they were stil at secondery school and their first album "The Fourth World" was released in 1997 but it didn't sell so they left Reprise Records. 

Then, they went to different universities but they kept in touch and they decided to play music again in 2001 and hired a new member, James Valentine. The group changed his name in "Maroon 5" because maroon was all their favorite colour. 

In 2004, they recorded "Songs about Jane", which had a great succes so in 2005, they won the Grammy Awards of the best new artist. 

Their second album "It won't be soon before long" was released in 2006 and it was inspired from the 80's with songs inspired by Prince or Michael Jackson. Maroon 5 also recorded an album with their old songs "Call and Responses: the Remix album" . 

"Hands all over" was their third album which was released in 2010. They also made "Overexposed" in 2012 with Wiz Khalifa and Christina Aguilera, and their last album "V" in 2014.

Adam Levine, the singer, was born in1979 in L.A. He is a friend of Sia, who wrote some songs on their latest album. He is a fan of "The Police", "Steevie Wonder" and "The Beattles" which inspired him for his songs. In 2010, he joined the project "We are the World 25 for Haiti". Since 2011, we can see him as a jury member in the american version of "The Voice" . He made a movie with Keira Knightley in 2014 called "New york Melody". Maroon 5's first album was inspired by his break  up with Jane Herman, and that's why it is named "Songs about Jane". Now, he is married to the model Behati Prisloo since July 2014.
